The Pregnancy Diary: Weeks 15-20 Are For Stretching & A Bump
In the second round, you really start to feel it.

- Week 16 I started getting more round ligament pains. It feels exactly like moderate menstrual cramps to me. Secretly, I love this feeling. I think because it makes me think that changes are REALLY happening even though I only look like I have a food baby right now. I had the same dull yet slightly painful pull feeling with Chloe, too. When I stand up, my lower back and pelvic area has several tiny cracks each time which tells me my body is in full-speed for producing _____ which relaxes a woman’s body in preparation for labor. I sound like my 76 year old Dad when he creaks and cracks! lol
- Do I have a cramp in my butt? Who knows! But since Week 12, I have had this weird shooting cramp pain in my lower back right that lightning bolts to my right cheek. Ha! TMI? Too bad- it’s called real pregnancy life! I am almost to the point where I can’t sleep on my stomach. It’s starting to become a little painful and of course I don’t want to keep trying to do so. Luckily, I’m a fan of the side-sleep as well but nothing beats a good faceplant in to my pillow. All I can remember from sleeping with Chloe was not. * week 18 I hit the threshold of stomach sleeping. adios til mid-summer!
- As this month ends (February), the butterfly flutters are prominent and sleeping is getting weird. Now that all of my internal organs have shifted and moved up north, my breathing is louder and I am full quickly. It’s funny, too, because while I haven’t had cravings- my palette is vastly different from Chloe. With Chloe, it was all pastries, ice cream, the hottest hot sauce I could find, and….green peppers (?!). With baby boy, I want comfort food like pasta, chicken ala king, plain animal crackers, and cereal. Coffee isn’t appealing to me and I drink MAYBE a cup a day (yes, I limit while prego anyway). I am finding it fascinating how different my tastes are this round!
- As month 5 ends (!!!) I am plugging away at kinda feeling not-so-hot a couple days of the week, fighting with my regular clothing, and whispering profanities about my bras. We are excited to ‘see’ baby boy again at the anatomy scan in early April, which will be over half way. I’m still sitting here in shock that we will have another munchkin joining our clan soon. Beau said something so nice the other night that I almost died. After some comment where I mentioned that I did not want to be a whiner, Beau said, ‘You were the best pregnant wife ever! I mean it.’ Psh, heck yea I was. Here’s to hoping this pregnancy will go just as swimmingly!
